LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. -- Tour-Crafters is hoping to entice golfers to
tee off in the Roman countryside. The operator has a Castel
Gandolfo package that includes five nights' accommodations, with
breakfast at the Parkhotel Villa Graiziol, a 17th century villa.
Clients play three rounds of golf (with transfers) at the nearby
Castel Gandolfo Country Club. The trip is priced from $1,159
through Dec. 31 and $1,169 from Jan. 1 to May 30.
Another plan involves accommodations at Marco Simone Golf Resort
-- home to two 18-hole courses. Prices start at $889 through Dec.
20 and $979 from Jan. 1 to May 30.
Its Parco dei Medici program features play at the Parco dei
Medici golf course, which boasts the remains of a first century
Roman dwelling near the 18th hole. Accommodations are at the
Sheraton Golf Hotel and Resort, which operates a free shuttle
service to downtown Rome.
The price starts at $1,079 through Dec. 31 and $1,169 from Jan.
1 to May 30. The above packages feature roundtrip air from New
York, Boston, Chicago and Miami. From Los Angeles, clients should
tack on an extra $140.
Airport transfers, accommodations for five nights, breakfast and
three rounds of golf round out the tour components. Airport taxes
are additional, and TourCrafters said an additional air supplement
