Tourism authority publishes guides

MEXICO CITY -- In an effort to attract leisure travelers, the Mexico City Tourism Authority has published two guides.

The Official Guide to Mexico City is a 48-page booklet that lists the names and telephone numbers of leading tourist services and sites in the following five categories: hotels, restaurants, nightlife, shopping and sightseeing.

It also features several pages on travel tips and phone numbers for tourist information offices, taxi operators, airlines, embassies, chambers of commerce and emergencies.

The guide's companion piece is a detailed map of the historic center, Coyoacan, San Angel, Chapultepec, Condesa and Polanco districts along with a description of their major attractions. A subway map and a map of Mexico City round out the pamphlet.

Also available is a 10-page glossy booklet titled Mexico City that describes and illustrates key tourism areas and includes sections on nightlife, restaurants, hotels and shopping.

The complimentary guides are available in English and Spanish.
