Tourist stabbed in Bermuda

HAMILTON, Bermuda -- An American visitor was stabbed here Oct. 29 in an attack that shocked local residents and tourism officials.

The victim, Scott Jable, a 38-year-old sales manager from Naperville, Ill., was airlifted to a Chicago hospital.

Jable was completing his fourth visit to the island when he was stabbed in the back at 9:30 a.m. in front of his wife and 9-month-old son near the Front Street cruise ship dock.

A suspect is in custody.

In a bedside telephone interview with a Bermuda newspaper, Jable said the stabbing would not prevent him from returning to the island.
