Trains Offer Look at Loop

CHICAGO -- Visitors to this city can tour its historic downtown Loop district aboard the Transit Authority's elevated trains.

Loop Tour Trains depart from the Randolph and Wabash station every Saturday at 12:15 p.m., 12:55 p.m., 1:35 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. (tours last approximately 40 minutes).

Tickets must be obtained at the Chicago Office of Tourism Visitor Information Center, located on the first floor of the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph St., at Michigan Avenue.

The tours are led by Chicago Architecture Foundation guides, who present the history of the 100-year-old downtown area and elevated train system.

Self-guided "audio architecture" walking tours of Chicago's Loop also are available at the Cultural Center's shop. The price is $5.
