JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Travel Exchange Central America, a series of events aimed at promoting travel to Central America, will be held April 16 through 18 in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The event originally was set for February but was rescheduled in the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch, according to conference planners.

The program will include presentations featuring all Central American countries; there will be workshops on how to sell Central America; El Salvador pre- and post-tours, and post-tours to all Central American countries. Additional features will be a tour operator marketplace with buyer-supplier meetings and a Central America travel exposition.

All business activities will be held at the new convention center, located within the El Salvador International Fair Grounds.

Travel agents and tour operators will stay at participating four- and five-star hotels in San Salvador. By shuttle bus, the hotels are all located within minutes of the convention center.

Tour operator and travel agent registration fees are $175. The fees cover airport transfers; three nights' hotel accommodations; shuttle bus transport; all scheduled business and social activities, and El Salvador sightseeing.

Promotional air fares are being offered by Taca, the event's official airline, and other airlines serving the region. Air fare information will be provided with registration confirmation.
