IT'S OFFICIAL: HARRAH'S ENTERTAINMENT officials signed a definitive agreement to purchase Binion's Horseshoe Hotel & Casino, which has been closed since Jan. 9. Terms of the deal were not disclosed; however, the transaction is expected to close before the end of the first quarter. Harrah's plans to reopen the 360-room downtown property "as soon as practicable," said Gary Loveman, Harrah's Entertainment president and chief executive officer. The company also plans to host the 35th annual World Series of Poker at the Horseshoe April 22 to May 28, as originally scheduled.

ALLEGIANT AIR March 3 will launch nonstop scheduled service between Greater Peoria Regional Airport and McCarran Airport. The new service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays using 161-seat MD-83 aircraft. To celebrate, the carrier is offering introductory fares starting at $79 per person one-way when booked at by Feb. 8 for travel through Sept. 30. Fares booked through the airline's reservations center at (888) 594-6937 start at $99 per person, one-way. Inclusive vacation packages start at $220 per person through Allegiant Vacations. That rate is available for bookings through Feb. 8 for travel through Sept. 30; the rate includes a three-night stay at the Gold Coast.

AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN WYNN RESORTS AND GATEWAY, will put 7,000 Gateway-branded plasma and LCD televisions as well as hundreds of DVD players and other products in the 2,698 guest rooms of Wynn Las Vegas, which is scheduled to open in April 2005. In addition, the agreement calls for Gateway to supply more than 200 digital TVs to the property's common areas. Wynn Resorts plans to use Gateway LCD and plasma TVs for messaging and program broadcasting in the resort's casino, restaurants, and poolside cabanas.
