U.S. warns of Turkey threat

WASHINGTON -- The State Department warned travelers to take extra precautions when visiting Turkey after Kurdish rebels, angling for the release of their imprisoned leader, threatened a campaign of violence against tourists.

Renaissance Cruises and Royal Olympic Cruises, two lines with ships calling in Turkey, said they were monitoring the situation there but have not canceled calls at Turkish ports after a German newspaper reported the Kurdish threats against tourists and tourist attractions there.
