Upgrade Planned for Nova Scotia Ferry

CHARLOTTETOWN, Prince Edward Island -- Bay Ferries Ltd. here said it will replace its Bluenose ferry service between Bar Harbor, Maine, and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, with the Cat, a high-speed catamaran that will cut travel time from six hours to two-and-a-half hours.

The Cat will enter service on May 28, operating two daily roundtrips during the summer season. According to the company, it carries 900 people and 240 cars and has a casino, a cafeteria and duty-free shops.
