PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico -- If you ask Dennis Whitelaw, general manager of the CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta, how the town has changed in the years since he arrived, he'll probably mention diversification.

An example is the hotel he runs, one of the well-established upscale properties in the Marina Vallarta complex.

Long a favorite for European-plan enthusiasts looking for elegance by the bay, the CasaMagna Marriott is the latest entrant into Puerto Vallarta's inclusive market.

The 462-room resort unveiled its All-Inclusive Value Vacations package as a new option for guests, giving the property a broader appeal, Whitelaw said.

Poolside at the CasaMagna Marriott in Puerto Vallarta. The package includes room service; food and beverages at select restaurants; use of the tennis courts and health club, and applicable room taxes and gratuities. Guests also earn Marriott Rewards points.

In addition, up to two children under age 12 can stay and eat for free when sharing a room with a parent.

A minimum five-night stay is required.

Through Dec. 20, rates for the package start at $215 per room, per night, double.

Another example of diversification is the growth of golf, evidenced by the anticipated opening within the next year of two new golf courses -- one designed by Jack Nicklaus and one by Tom Weiskopf.

Whitelaw also said the hotel plans to offer golf packages with the new courses in addition to the golf course located across the street.

For all of its guests, the resort offers a wide array of restaurant choices, including Mikado, a Japanese restaurant and sushi bar; Champions, an American-style restaurant and sports bar; Las Casitas, a poolside bar and grill, and La Estancia, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and features Mexican and Italian cuisine, prime rib and seafood.

The property also has three lighted tennis courts; an oceanfront pool; various water sports and beach activities; a health club with a whirlpool, and the Club Amigos children's program.

The hotel has more than 9,000 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet space.

Another new program was introduced for honeymooners.

Available through Dec. 21, the package includes deluxe oceanview accommodations; daily breakfast; champagne upon arrival, and nightly VIP turndown service.

Through Dec. 21, the rate is $119 per couple, per night. A minimum three-night stay is required.
