Vegas hotel debuts dinner show

LAS VEGAS -- The Excalibur Hotel Casino here is serving up a new dinner show in its recently renovated King Arthur's Arena.

"Tournament of Kings," a $1 million production that replaces the long-running "King Arthur's Tournament," boasts new sets and costumes as well as jousting and sword fighting.

The story begins with a sports competition held by King Arthur in honor of his son, Christopher. Rival kings are on hand to test their skills and join in the festivities, which are interrupted by the evil fire wizard Mordred, invading armies and dragons.

The audience, too, is encouraged to get into the act, with cheering and singing. The showroom, which recently underwent a $1.2 million face-lift, features new decor, lighting and a new sound system.

Audience members sit in one of eight sections named for each country represented by the rival kings. The show is presented at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. seven days a week. Tickets are $34.95 plus tax per person; children age 3 and under are admitted free.
