Venetian Resort to take Web bookings

LAS VEGAS--Bookings are being taken for the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, slated to open April 21, via the resort's new Web site.

The site, located at, offers Internet users a sneak preview of the $1.2 billion resort, which takes its theme from Venice, Italy, during the Renaissance. The site provides a look at guest rooms in what will be the Las Vegas Strip's first all-suite hotel.

Also featured will be a look at the 500,000-square-foot Venetian Congress Center, which includes an 83,000-square-foot, pillarless ballroom and a connection to the 1.2 million-square-foot Sands Expo and Convention Center.

In addition, the site will include updates and information about the property's upscale restaurants, which include Joechim Splichal's Pinot, David Overton's Grand Lux Cafe, Emeril Lagasse's Delmonico Steakhouse and Larry Mindel's Canaletto, as well as its shopping area, the first Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in the U.S. and the SpaClub at the Venetian by Canyon Ranch.

Visitors to the site can view construction photos showing progress on the property's re-creations of such Venetian landmarks as St. Mark's Square, Campanile Tower, Doge's Palace, the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge.

Other links include information about the resort's 116,000-square-foot casino, whose interior will resemble a Venetian palace and which will offer 2,500 slot machines and 118 table games.
