Web site adds Spanish version

LAS VEGAS -- Vegas.com, a destination travel Web site, launched a full-scale Spanish-language version, joining Hertz and Southwest Airlines as one of a handful of such sites in the online travel industry.

In addition to the thousands of pages that make up www.espanol.vegas.com, the site also offers a dedicated, toll-free phone number, (888) 719-4040, that is manned by bilingual call center travel specialists.

The Spanish-speaking market accounts for 13% of the U.S. population, or approximately 38.8 million people, according to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Last year, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Hispanics accounted for about 6% of the city's reported 35 million visitors.
