Wyndham Opens Corporate Properties in N.J.

NEW YORK -- The Wyndham Hotel Corp. has tripled its holdings in New Jersey with the debut of corporate-brand properties in Newark and Mount Olive.

The 11-story Wyndham Garden Hotel Newark Airport, owned by Newrock Investment Partners and managed by Wyndham, opened June 2 after a yearlong, $8.3 million renovation of an independent, nonbranded property. Despite its name, the 260-room hotel is located in Elizabeth, N.J., approximately a half-mile from the airport and a 15-minute drive from the Meadowlands Sports Complex. It has six meeting rooms that comprise 4,385 square feet of meeting space. In addition, the hotel features exercise facilities, a swimming pool, a lobby bar and the Garden Cafe, a full-service restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The refurbishment project included redesigning the lobby, restaurant and library; upgrading the meeting space with new furniture, carpeting, paint and artwork, and redoing the swimming pool, the exercise room and landscaping. All of the property's guest room corridors, guest rooms and bathrooms also were renovated, and the guest rooms were refitted with "Business the Wyndham Way" amenities, including voice mail, hair dryers and data ports.

The Wyndham Garden Hotel Mount Olive, located about a 25-minute drive from Newark Airport, is a newly constructed property that opened on June 9. The five-story, 141-room hotel is owned by the International Trade Center and managed by Wyndham. It features 3,600 square feet of meeting space, including four meeting rooms.

Like the Newark Airport property, the Wyndham Garden Hotel Mount Olive offers guests exercise facilities, a swimming pool, a lobby bar and the Garden Cafe.

Wyndham entered the New Jersey market in January 1996, when it opened the 160-room Wyndham Garden Hotel-Piscataway/Somerset.

Wyndham's Garden Hotel brand caters primarily to individual business travelers and small business groups. Hotels that carry the name generally are small, upscale properties located in suburban corporate settings.

Corporate rates at the Newark Airport hotel run $119 per room, per night, weekdays and $69 per night, weekends. At the Mount Olive property, the cost is $105 per night, weekdays and $64 per night on weekends. Both properties are participating in Wyndham's Special Summer promotion, which gives guests three free Blockbuster movie rentals when they pay with their MasterCard, as well as late weekend checkout. In addition, there is no charge for children age 18 and younger who share a room with their parents.
