PORTLAND, Ore.--For clients who want to spend the turn of the
millennium in the Mediterranean, Ya'lla Tours USA offers four
options: Egypt, Turkey, Israel and Morocco.
"Nearly everyone who has a yearning to travel wants to make
special plans for New Year's Eve 1999," said Ya'lla owner Ronen
Paldi, "and we have been working on these millennium packages since
the summer of 1995."
With the exception of the Israel tour, each package begins on
Dec. 28 and ends on Jan. 2, 2000, and each millennium party is
scheduled for Friday, Dec. 31. All millennium tours offer
post-program options at each destination.
According to Paldi, the Israel tour, from Christmas Eve in
Bethlehem to New Year's Eve in Nazareth, has been scheduled so that
participants not only welcome the millennium in the Holy Land but
are in Bethlehem for the anniversary of the birth of Jesus
In Egypt, Ya'lla Tours has reserved an entire Pharaonic village
to stage a dinner with entertainment ranging from storytelling to
music and dancing by top performers. At the stroke of midnight,
visitors will celebrate with a glass of champagne and view a laser
show that celebrates the crossing of the threshold to the 21st
Other features will include a trip to the Pyramids and the Cairo
Museum, a dinner cruise on the Nile and an Arabian horse show at
the private Sakkara Club. The trip's cost is $4,995, including air
fare from any major U.S. airport.
In Turkey, Ya'lla has chartered a yacht to cruise the Bosporus
and be at the crossroads of Europe and Asia at the stroke of
midnight. Participants will be able to view the Rumeli Fortress,
illuminated by fireworks honoring the arrival of the new century.
Throughout the evening there will be authentic Turkish cuisine and
entertainment, including a Turkish band and belly dancers.
In addition to sightseeing in Istanbul, clients can experience a
private Turkish bath party with entertainment, followed by a dinner
at the Ziya Restaurant. The inclusive price per person is $4,995,
which includes air fare from any major U.S. airport.
Clients choosing the operator's A Thousand and One Nights
millennium gala, complete with an Arabian Fantasia Party, will
visit Morocco to experience storytellers, snake charmers, fire
eaters, fortune tellers and acrobats.
The party at the Kasbah Tassarouth (10 miles from Marrakesh)
salutes the midnight moment by illuminating the garden courtyards
as riders on camels and horses charge into the 21st century firing
rifles in the traditional Moroccan style.
Other activities include city sightseeing and a trip outside
Marrakesh to the Atlas mountains at the foot of the Toubkal, the
highest peak in North Africa. With air from New York, the package's
cost is $4,495 per person and includes accommodations at the
Palmeraie Golf Palace Hotel, a property with its own golf
The Grand Jubilee Year 2000 in the Holyland is a tour created
for Christians that begins Dec. 21. The celebration gives clients
the chance to participate in a choir parade at Manger Square, walk
the Way of the Cross, plant a tree in the Forest of Jerusalem and
be part of the midnight mass at the Church of the Nativity in
Bethlehem on Christmas Eve and at the Church of the Annunciation in
Nazareth on New Year's Eve.
Other activities include a Christmas lunch in Jerusalem; a
private boat ride across the Sea of Galilee; a drive to the Dead
Sea, to Mount Carmel and the Carmelite Monastery of Muhraka; a
visit to the Roman city of Caesarea, and a farewell dinner.

priced at $4,295, and five-star hotels with a per person cost of
