Regent Seven Seas deserves praise for its program of including precruise hotel stays with many of its 2011 sailings. The program thoughtfully includes airport-hotel and hotel-ship transfers plus breakfast.

Perhaps this will serve as a reminder to suppliers that guests don't simply materialize at their door and that their experience may be bracketed by the stressful ordeal of getting to the gate, to the tour or to the ship on time.

A few suppliers have offered various solutions for this problem -- Virgin Atlantic's free transfers for Upper Class passengers come to mind -- but it's still gratifying to see yet another supplier doing something about it.
