With Greece still one of the few European destinations open to vaccinated Americans, airlines are ramping up service from the U.S.

According to Cirium flight schedule data, airlines will fly 10% more seats between the U.S. and Athens during June through August than they did in 2019. Like that year, no flights are scheduled between the U.S. and elsewhere in the Greek market.

Greece officially reopened to vaccinated U.S. tourists on May 14. The country will also be a launching point for various cruise lines this summer.

Included among the eight air services currently scheduled for this summer are two routes to Athens that weren't available in 2019: from Atlanta on Delta and Washington Dulles on United.

In addition, American has added a new JFK-Athens service, joining Delta in that market and replacing Norwegian, which no longer flies long haul.

Other returning Athens gateways include Newark (United and Emirates), Philadelphia (American) and Chicago O'Hare (American).
