Soft adventure company Off the Map Travel, which specializes in Northern Lights tours, is launching the first Aurora Festival in Bjorkliden, an Arctic area of Swedish Lapland.

The festival, scheduled from Jan. 15 to 17, will feature presentations from experts on the Northern Lights and space weather as well as the region’s traditional food and culture. Activities will include hands-on experiments to recreate the Northern Lights indoors.

A two-night land package during the event is priced from about $1,382 and includes meals, four-star accommodations, welcome reception, attendance at talks from local experts, an excursion to Sweden’s highest mountain lodge and an Aurora Borealis photography course. The itinerary also will feature an excursion to a remote Arctic Aurora camp, weather permitting.
