Fogo Island Inn combines music, food in '(Go) Wild with Alan Doyle' plan

The Fogo Island Inn, a 29-room property that opened in June off the northeast coast of Newfoundland, is offering a two-night package Sept. 13 to 15 spotlighting September's berry season and the music of Alan Doyle, frontman from the locally based band Great Big Sea. The (Go) Wild with Alan Doyle package includes two nights' all-inclusive accommodations; a bonfire on Friday evening; foraging on Saturday for wild pine, porcini and chanterelle mushrooms and plucking wild marshberries, partridgeberries and blueberries led by Doyle and the hotel's executive chef, Murray McDonald; and Saturday's meal, from the foraged ingredients, cooked over an open fire, followed by a performance of acoustic music and stories by Doyle. Rates start at $1,675 per couple and do not include taxes and alcoholic beverages. Transfers between Gander Airport in Newfoundland and the Farewell ferry to Fogo Island are available upon request.
