The 11-room Merchant, a Lark Hotels property, will grand open in Salem, Mass., on Nov. 25, bringing the number of Lark Hotels to 13. An additional five properties are set to debut in 2016.
The boutique hotel was originally a private home owned by Joshua Ward, a wealthy sea merchant who commissioned 18th century architect Samuel McIntire to build the federal style building on Washington Street. The property has also seen life as a tavern, an office building and a rare bookshop.
To celebrate its grand opening, the Merchant is offering an Explore the Neighborhood special, valid Nov. 25 to Dec. 17. Guests booking two or more nights will receive 10% off rates, which range from $159 to $399, as well as two tickets to the Peabody Essex Museum and a $20 dining credit at the nearby Naumkeag Ordinary restaurant.
