Westin Aruba promotes 'hurricane free' plan

WESTIN ARUBAWith hurricane season in full swing, travelers who want a "worry-free sunny escape" are invited to the Westin Resort & Casino, Aruba, located outside the Caribbean's "hurricane belt." The resort is offering its Hurricane Free package through Dec. 19, with rates beginning at $199 per room, per night, double. The offer includes accommodations in an oceanview guestroom and daily breakfast for two. If it rains for more than three consecutive hours during any day of a guest's trip, the offer will also include a $74 food and beverage credit (74 mph is the minimum wind speed of a Category 1 hurricane). In the event a Category 1 or greater hurricane were to impact the resort, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Westin's parent company, offers its 2013 storm guarantee:

  • A complimentary stay, to be used within one calendar year, equal to the nights in the balance of a guest's vacation.
  • No penalty for early departures in the event of a storm.
  • Any unused portion of a deposit will be refunded.
  • Guests with a confirmed reservation who are unable to travel due to an airport closing, a flight cancellation or a Starwood property closing in the Caribbean or South Florida will have the option of a full refund or a complimentary guestroom upgrade on their next visit.
