HONOLULU -- When
Declan Barton, a corporate travel agent for Global Star Travel in
Sacramento, Calif., entered Aston Hawaii's "Family Reunion for
Twenty" sweepstakes last year, winning seemed like a long shot.
But Dec. 1, 2003,
was her lucky day. That was when Aston executives reached in and
picked one winner out of 170,000 hopefuls.
"It was a few
days before Christmas when I received the overnight package from
Aston," Barton said. "I ripped it open and said , 'Oh, my God, I

one-bedroom suites at Aston's Waikiki Sunset property on Oahu for a
four-day vacation, May 29 to June 5. She invited 19 family members
to join her, and Hawaiian Airlines picked up their round-trip tab
Barton had read
about the contest in TravelAge West, a sister publication of Travel
"I thought the
trip would be perfect because I have a large family, and we were
just talking about going to Hawaii," she said.
which was open to the public, was a joint venture with Family Fun
Magazine and Aston Hawaii's Web site. Contestants applied either
through the Web site or by mail to the magazine.
The company hopes
to hold another family sweepstakes later this year or next,
according to a hotel representative.
