Alaska Airlines began daily nonstop service from Oakland and San Jose, Calif., to Lihue on the island of Kauai and Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii March 18.

“We are essentially doubling our service from Oakland and San Jose to Kauai and the Big Island,” Joe Sprague, Alaska’s vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “Going to seven flights a week to each of these islands makes it more convenient than ever for Bay Area travelers flying to Hawaii.”

Alaska began daily flights to Kahului, Maui, from San Jose and Oakland on June 5 last year.

The carrier plans to inaugurate daily flights to Honolulu from both Oakland and San Jose on April 10.
