Alaska Airlines announced Feb. 18 that it plans to expand its service from the Bay Area to Hawaii by increasing its current four-times-weekly, nonstop flights from Oakland and San Jose to Kahului, Maui, to daily service beginning Jun 5.

“We wanted to align our San Jose and Bay Area service with our overall West Coast strategy,” Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines' vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “We're very committed to the Bay Area, and expanding our Maui service to daily flights is a great benefit for our customers.”

Alaska will continue to offer Kahului flights from Oakland and San Jose aboard its Boeing 737-800 aircraft, featuring 16 first-class seats and 141 in the main cabin.
