The Waikiki Ocean Club is now renting six Aqua Quads, motorized boats designed for two riders, from its moored location off the south shore of Oahu.
Rigid, inflatable boats that are 11 feet long and 165 pounds, the trimaran vessels feature a 20-horsepower outboard motor and are designed to provide more stability and maneuverability than a standard personal watercraft, such as a JetSki. Aqua Quads cannot reach the same speeds as those other watercraft, according to Waikiki Ocean Club officials.
“We could have purchased JetSkis at a lesser cost, but the Aqua Quads offer a wider body for a more stable ride and better control, making them extremely safe,” Lee Collins, president of Waikiki Ocean Club, said in a statement. “No experience is necessary for a completely safe and exciting experience.”
Aqua Quad drivers must be at least 16, while riders can be no younger than 13, and 30-minute sessions aboard the vessels are priced at $59 for one person or $80 for two.
The 10,000 square foot Waikiki Ocean Club operates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and features a full bar and lunch menu, multilevel diving platforms, water slides and trampolines along with activities like kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving and paddleboarding.
Ferry shuttles to the attraction, which charges $89 for a full day’s adult admission and $69 for kids 16 and under, depart from the Hilton Hawaiian Village and Ala Wai Boat Harbor.
