Waimea Valley will have its grand opening celebration on Aug. 16 with Hawaiian music, dance, arts and craft demonstrations, games for children and guided tours.
The celebration, Pulama O Waimea: To Care for and Cherish Waimea, will showcase the valley's Hawaiian cultural and spiritual significance and its natural beauty.
In February, Hiyipaka LLC began its stewardship of the valley.
Tours will focus on conservation/wildlife, botanical, history and native Hawaii plants. Guests can learn about the traditional arts and crafts of Hawaii from expert cultural practitioners, and kids can try Hawaiian games and activities.
