Available seats on nonstop flights departing from the U.S. mainland for Hawaii are expected to increase 6.4% year over year during the three-month period ending Jan. 31.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) is forecasting a 6.3% increase in airlift from its largest source market, U.S. states west of the Rockies.

Seats from the U.S. east are likely to jump 7% through the end of January. Significant increases are forecast from San Francisco, up 33.9%, Seattle, up 16.3%, and Washington D.C., up 7%.

Meanwhile, airlift from international markets will improve by 1.5%, thanks largely to a 1.6% increase in air seats from Japan, Hawaii’s largest international source market.
