Traffic on interisland carrier Go Mokulele was up 8.6% in January as the Mesa Air Group subsidiary transported nearly 5,000 more passengers year over year.

“We are delighted to have had a strong January with year-over-year increases in both total passengers carried and revenue passenger miles,” said Jonathan Ornstein, Mesa Air Group CEO. “We are optimistic tourism and Hawaii’s economy are on the mend, and we remain committed to providing the best service at the lowest fares on which our passengers have come to depend.”

More than 55,000 passengers flew with Go Mokulele in January, and the airline’s load factor was 69.8%, increasing 8.5% from the same period in 2009. Revenue passenger miles were up 4.9%.
