Mesa Air Group, parent company to interisland carrier Go Mokulele, emerged from reorganization under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on March 1.
“Today marks a new beginning for Mesa, one that allows the company to build on its almost 30-year history and re-establish ourselves as one of the world’s leading regional airlines,” Mesa Chairman and CEO Jonathan Ornstein said in a statement. “We are deeply appreciative of the support we have received during our reorganization from our creditors, airline partners and employees, and we will work hard to repay this trust by building a successful Mesa Air Group.”
The company entered bankruptcy protection Jan. 5, 2010. Eliminating 100 excess aircraft, restructuring a number of its current aircraft leases and extending its codeshare agreement with US Airways through 2015 all played a role in the company’s restructuring efforts.
