The Hawaii Tourism Authority's marketing committee announced Aug. 5 that it was allocating $4.1 million to the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau to help stimulate short-term arrivals from North America.

"The additional funding from the marketing opportunity fund will allow us to aggressively target our core market and boost travel to Hawaii," Mike McCartney, president and CEO of the HTA, said in a statement.

HVCB officials did not specify exactly which North American market would receive extra funding or how the money would be used.
