Hawaii visitor spending, arrivals up for February

Visitor spending in the Aloha State increased 11.5% and the average number of daily visitors was up nearly 6% in February, according to the Hawaiian Tourism Authority.

HTA statistics released March 29 showed that spending by visitors from North America and Japan rose, but from other international markets, spending was down 5.3% year over year.

Visitor increases from the mainland and Japan helped offset a 2% decline from Canada. Arrivals via cruise ship were up 178%, with over 13,000 passengers arriving for the month.
