Hawaiian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner ahead of a planned April 15 launch of the aircraft.

The 787-9 had its official welcome into the Hawaiian fleet at a celebration on Feb. 23. At launch, the carrier will use the plane for daily service between Honolulu and San Francisco.

Hawaiian expects to receive its second Dreamliner next month; in mid-May, the two planes will begin flying to Los Angeles and Phoenix from Honolulu.

Hawaiian expects to receive three of its 12 Dreamliners on order by the end of the year. The aircraft are configured with 34 lie-flat business-class seats and a main cabin of 266 seats, including 79 with extra legroom.
