According to the monthly Air Travel Consumer Report released April 9 by the Department of Transportation, Hawaiian Airlines was once again No. 1 in the nation in on-time performance and fewest flight cancellations for February.
91.2% of Hawaiian's flights arrived within 15 minutes of schedule, while only eight of the airline's 5,658 February flights were canceled. For the month, Hawaiian was second nationally for fewest reports of mishandled baggage, with 2.13 reports for every 1,000 passengers.
In another statement, released April 8, Hawaiian Airlines said its total number of passengers carried in March increased by 17.7% when compared with the same period in 2008. The airline's load factor declined 3.1%, however, to 84.6% compared with March of last year.
Year to date, Hawaiian's total number of passengers carried stood at 1.9 million, an increase of more than 15% over 2008's figures. Load factor was again down from last year, slipping 3.1%, to 81.9%, through March 31.
