Maui and Kauai were named the top two Pacific islands in the Conde Nast Traveler 2009 Readers' Choice Awards.
The magazine released the results of its annual survey, which also asks readers to rank the world's best hotels, resorts, cruise lines, cities and airlines, on Oct. 16. More than 25,000 participated this year.
Maui, which was voted Best Island in the World for the 15th time, was the only island-destination to achieve a score of 90 or higher based on the survey's ranking and point system measuring a location's activities, atmosphere/ambience, beaches, friendliness, lodgings, restaurants and scenery.
Unchanged from last year's results, Hawaii's top three resorts were the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea, the Big Island's Four Seasons Hualalai and the Four Seasons Lanai, the Lodge at Koele.
