Blackstone and Hilton Worldwide held a ground-breaking ceremony June 3 for the partnership’s $415 million, 418-unit Grand Islander Hilton Grand Vacations Club tower in Waikiki.

Topping out at 37 floors, the new timeshare building will sit adjacent to the existing Tapa Tower at the 22-acre Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort.

Unit layouts in the Grand Islander will consist of one-, two- and three-bedroom suites and penthouses, including full kitchens, dinning rooms and large living rooms.

Timeshare sales for the venture are scheduled to begin later this year, with construction wrapping up in 2017.
