Honolulu Zoo begins expansion project

HONOLULU -- The Honolulu Zoo broke ground on a six-phase construction project that should be completed by August.

The zoo is expanding to create a Discovery Zone, an 8,000-square-foot facility that will replace the existing Childrens Zoo and will be triple its size. The new facility will offer children the chance to interact with the animals as well as participate in feedings and exhibits.

The second phase includes the construction of a two-story learning center that will offer educational classrooms and a 150-seat auditorium for conferences.

Visit www.honoluluzoo.org for more information on the zoo.
