Noted golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. has signed on to oversee the renovation of the Prince Golf Course, located in Kauai’s Princeville resort.

The course closed Jan. 29 for the renovation work, which is scheduled to finish this October.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to restore and refresh this wonderful, top 100 golf course,” Jones said in a statement. “Superb playing conditions on the reconstructed green surfaces, refurbished bunkers and widened fairways will be appreciated by discriminating golfers of all skill levels.”

Upgrades to the course will include green refurbishments, bunker renovations, tee box leveling, improving drainage and the installation of a state-of-the-art irrigation system.

Opened in 1990, Prince Golf Course has been ranked the No. 1 course in Hawaii by Golf Digest.
