Coinciding with the planned launch of a pretravel testing program for transpacific arrivals to Hawaii, the Koa Kea Hotel and Resort on Kauai is slated to reopen on Sept. 1.
Part of the Meritage Collection, the Poipu-area property has implemented companywide safety and cleaning protocols under a new "Hospitality and Health Promise" that outlines measures, including enhanced technology to increase contactless experiences, socially distanced common spaces, expanded cleaning measures, daily temperature checks of employees and other precautions.
Additionally, for the reopening Koa Kea has launched a daily sunset torch-lighting ceremony during which guests will get vouchers for a complimentary mai tai. There will also be socially distanced yoga when the resort welcomes guests again along with discounted rates and flexible booking packages for both Hawaii residents and out-of-state guests. A concierge will be available via text message, and upon arrival leis and wine will be delivered to the guests' rooms rather than the former in-person greeting.
The Spa at Koa Kea and Cafe at Koa Kea will both reopen Sept. 1 with social distancing procedures and additional health measures in effect, and signature restaurant Red Salt is expected to reopen in late September.
