California-based Landmark Hotels is no longer managing the Kahala Hotel & Resort on Oahu after the recent sale of the 338-room property.
Earlier this month, the Japanese firm ResortTrust announced plans to close its purchase of the 6.5-acre resort on Oct. 14 for approximately $290 million.
“With no agreement reached between Landmark Hotels Inc. and the new ownership … the Kahala is no longer under the management of Landmark,” Shawn Sweeney, Landmark’s president, said in an Oct. 15 statement. “We wish ResortTrust well in their endeavors and offer our aloha to the Kahala ohana [family] we were so proud to work with for the past eight years.”
Landmark continues to manage day-to-day operations at the 1,800-acre Makena Beach & Golf Resort on Maui.
