Unite Here Local 5 union leaders representing hotel workers at Oahu's Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Hyatt Regency Waikiki returned to the bargaining table with representatives from both properties last week.

The negotiations resumed just two weeks after an overwhelming majority of Local 5 employees of the Hilton Hawaiian Village voted to approve a strike authorization measure.

About 6,000 Local 5 hotel employees at Hilton, Hyatt, and Starwood properties across Hawaii have been working without a contract since June 30. Union leaders have been in negotiations with all three chains over the summer, though no new talks with Starwood have been scheduled.
