Maintenance to shut down Superferry for 2 weeks

Hawaii Superferry will cease operations for more than two weeks on Feb. 2 for annual maintenance and recertification required by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The mandatory shutdown will affect 700 customers with reservations from Feb. 2 to 17. The company is offering a full refund or the option to rebook at a later date.

The company plans to clean and paint the ship's hull as well as inspect fittings below water level.
