Work on a $30 million renovation to the 343-room Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows is underway on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Extensive refurbishment to the property’s two-bedroom bungalows, which feature private swimming pools and hot tubs, is scheduled to be finished this month.
The rooms will now include new wood flooring, carpets, 65-inch HD televisions and in-room Apple iMacs.
Guestroom renovations in the resort’s main building will begin in early 2013, followed by landscaping improvements and a new pool experience that resort officials hope to have completed by the end of next year.
“The renovation will heighten the authentic, timeless Hawaiian experience that our guests have come to enjoy since we opened our doors almost 30 years ago,” Robert Grant, the Mauna Lani’s general manager, said in a statement. “Preserving and sharing the history and culture of Hawaii will remain a large part of our resort experience.”
