A monthly free concert series that kicked off this summer at the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa in Waikiki, will continue through at least June.
Officials at the property recently announced a new series of concert dates, beginning Dec. 18 with the popular local duo Kupaoa. Other well-known Hawaii musicians will follow on the last Friday of the coming months, including Robert Cazimero, Raiatea Helm, Jimmy Borges and Jeff Peterson, a two-time Grammy winner whose music was featured in “The Descendents.”
“We started Mele over the summer as a way to reintroduce the Banyan Courtyard as the finest music venue in Waikiki,” Larry Hanson, the Moana Surfrider’s general manager, said in a statement.
“You can’t go wrong under the banyan tree with a view of the ocean on an Aloha Friday,” he added “And it has really helped spark interest in the Moana’s history as we head into 2016, which will mark the hotel’s 115th anniversary.”
The free Friday concerts run from about 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Those interested in reserving seats should contact the Moana Surfrider’s Mason Waugh at (808) 923-2811 or [email protected]
