Behringer Harvard announced Nov. 15 that Memphis-based Davidson Hotel Co. will manage the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Coconut Beach.
Formerly the Aston Kauai Beach at Makaiwa Hotel, the 311-room property was purchased in a joint venture by Behringer Harvard and Texas-based JMI Realty in October.
"We are pleased that a management company of the highest caliber will play an important role in repositioning the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Coconut Beach," Richard Frank, senior vice president of Behringer Harvard, said in a statement. "Davidson Hotel Co. has proven expertise in managing hotels operating under the most prestigious hotel brands in the U.S., including the Courtyard by Marriott brand and many others."
According to Behringer Harvard officials, the Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Coconut Beach will undergo a multimillion-dollar, 18-month renovation scheduled to begin immediately. Planned upgrades include work on the property's exterior; a pool reconfiguration; enhanced landscaping; and refurbishment of the hotel's meetings spaces, restaurant, lounge and public areas.
