Oahu Ghost Tours is describing its new “Myths and Legends of Waikiki” product as a look into the dark side of Hawaii’s most popular visitor destination.

“Within Waikiki, former home of Hawaiian royalty, and today a tourist mecca full of hotels and nightclubs, there’s also a dark and creepier side, full of haunted hot spots and unexplained events, some which will give you chicken skin,” company officials said in a statement.

“From periodic sightings of the Fire Goddess Madame Pele to the Choking Ghost of Waikiki, who waits for just the right moment when you go to sleep in your hotel bed to attack, Waikiki is more than just fun and tourists,” officials added.

Limited in size to 14 people, the two-hour walking tour visits a range of Waikiki resorts, including stops at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel, the Moana Surfrider and the Duke Kahanamoku statue.

Oahu Ghost Tours launched the once-weekly tour Mondays at 6:30 p.m. but hopes to expand to additional nights soon. Tours cost $31 for guests over 12 years old and $23 for ages 7 to 11. Visit the Oahu Ghost Tours website for more details.
