An overall drop in Hawaii visitors has meant fewer people are visiting Hawaii's national parks, which saw 10.5% fewer visitors in November, down from 368,986 in 2007 to 330,212, according to the National Park Service.
There were 4.1 million visitors to Hawaii's national parks this year through November, down 12.8% from 4.7 million visitors during the same period in 2007.
Visits to the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii's top tourist attraction, declined 17.4% in November, from 119,764 in 2007 to 98,901. Year to date through November, visits were down 7%, from more than 1.4 million in 2007 to 1.3 million.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island saw a 19% drop in visitors in November, from 121,106 visitors in 2007 to 98,361 visitors this year. Year to date there was a 15.4% decline, from more than 1.3 million visitors a year ago to 1.1 million visitors this year.
