Pleasant Holidays looks to combat ‘softness’ with its ‘Biggest Hawaii Sale’

Pleasant Holidays has launched its “Biggest Hawaii Sale of the Year” promotion, offering travelers who book air-and-hotel vacation packages a free seven-day Hertz car rental.

Valid for new bookings made through Oct. 20 for travel through Sept. 15, 2014, the minimum three-night special debuts during what Pleasant President and CEO Jack Richards described as “some softness in the Hawaii market this fall likely due to rising hotel costs, especially on Oahu.”

“Hawaii’s competitive markets of Mexico and Caribbean are growing at a much faster rate due to the number of all-inclusive resorts and low [average daily rate] growth in 2013 and 2014, which is much less than Hawaii hotel prices,” he added.

Pleasant’s Biggest Hawaii Sale offers air combined with accommodations at a range of participating hotels on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii, from major gateways on the West Coast as well as several East Coast markets, providing participating customers with a free rental of a convertible, luxury automobile, SUV or minivan for up to seven days.

The company has also lowered trip deposits to $50 per person, hoping to ease customer concerns about the rising cost of air-inclusive vacation packages.

“We believe the new Pleasant Holiday’s reduced deposit program will encourage travelers to book Hawaii vacations further in advance with less money down when Hawaii hotel inventory and air seats are more widely available,” Richards explained.
