Following a nine-month greens refurbishment project, the Poipu Bay golf course adjacent to the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa reopened Dec. 16.
"We're excited for our guests to play the course and experience the new greens," said Craig Sasada, Poipu Bay's director of golf. "The greens look absolutely pristine. Not only are they ecofriendly, but they will provide a faster and more consistent roll for our players."
Former home of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf event, Poipu Bay was closed last April to install a "warm-season turf" requiring fewer chemicals and less water. Improvements were also made to many of the course's bunkers, tee boxes and the 21,000-square-foot clubhouse.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Poipu Bay ranked No. 5 out of 90 Hawaii courses listed in Golf Magazine's September issue "Best Courses You Can Play" classification.
