A Hawaii bankruptcy court judge has approved Unity House Inc.’s plan to sell its Lotus at Diamondhead Hotel to Nobuka USA Inc. for $18.5 million.

A nonprofit corporation with ties to Hawaii’s labor unions, Unity House filed for bankruptcy April 14 in order to repay a $5.5 million loan.

In a May 17 report in Pacific Business News, Unity House Chairman Jim Boersema said the sale must be completed by July 15 and that the nonprofit would likely emerge from bankruptcy after its completion.
