The 70-acre Travaasa Hana, Maui resort, located on the Valley Isle’s secluded eastern coast, unveiled its new restaurant, the Preserve Kitchen + Bar, on Dec. 2.
The new dining and lounge venue is one of the final projects in a $12 million refurbishment project underway at the 70-room property. Resort officials expect to wrap up all the improvement work before the holiday season this year.
Meanwhile, local ingredients will be a major focus at Preserve, where produce will first be sourced from Hana whenever possible and then from the rest of Maui and elsewhere around the Hawaiian Islands.
“To honor the agriculture and community of Hana, we’re excited to increase our support of local ranchers, farmers and fishermen,” David MacIlwraith, the Travaasa Hana’s general manager, said in a statement. “Part of the magic of travel is to experience a destination authentically. Enjoying local cuisine is one of the best ways to do that.”
Overlooking Hana Bay, the open-air restaurant will welcome diners seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner while live Hawaiian music and hula will also be featured regularly at the venue.
