Waikiki Beach Walk progressing 'on schedule'

HONOLULU -- Construction continues on the $460 million Waikiki Beach Walk project here and Outrigger Enterprises announced the second group of tenants that will occupy retail space within the development.

"Construction began in April of this year and so far everything is right on schedule," said David Carey, president and CEO of Outrigger Enterprises.

The current tenant list includes five restaurants and 17 retailers; when complete, the development will feature up to 40 retail shops, six restaurants and bars and four new and/or completely renovated hotel properties.

The retail portion of the project is scheduled to open in early October of 2006, followed by portions of the hotels that same month.

The latest group includes the restaurant Holokai Grill, the owners of which operate Tikis Grill in Waikiki. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf will also open, as will Coconut Willys, a nightlife entertainment lounge.

Also among the new retailers are Crazy Shirts, Maui Divers Jewelry, Taboras Diamond Head Gallery, Follie Follie and Marco Polo Watch Collection.
